USC Schwarzenegger Institute Global Director Bonnie Reiss participated in the 12th and final Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting in New York this past September. This year’s meeting brought leaders in government, business, academia, NGOs, art and entertainment from around the world to “turn ideas into action”. The CGI organizers built an interesting program that encouraged in-depth discussions of some of the most important and challenging issues facing policy makers today. Topics included partnering for global prosperity; education; poverty; rights of girls; gender equity; climate change; energy and access to electricity. Additionally his year’s meeting included many small group discussions so that participants had a greater opportunity for peer-to-peer networking, creative brainstorming and developing ongoing collaborations.
