Schwarzenegger Institute Hosts Climate Criminal Prosecution Panel

The USC Schwarzenegger Institute hosted a panel discussion on climate criminal prosecution at the USC Gould School of Law, in partnership with USC’s Energy and Environment Law Society, Criminal Law Society, and Public Citizen.

Legal experts Aaron Regunberg from Public Citizen, Amy Fettig from Fair and Just Prosecution, and Don Braman from the George Washington University Law School discussed both the legal hurdles and opportunities of pressing criminal charges against major polluters. USC Law students Calen Garrett and Piper Mik facilitated the conversation.

The discussion explored legal approaches to holding polluters liable from homicide charges to reckless endangerment caused by the burning of fossil fuels.
