The importance of supporting women leaders, in government, business, academia and elsewhere must start in school, and how we educate both our young men and young women. At the USC Price School of Public Policy we understand the enormous value of educating and empowering women leaders.
The USC Schwarzenegger Institute was proud to support Jack Knott, Dean of the Price School of Public Policy, in bringing attention to this issue. This years’ “Dean Speaker Series” focused on “Great American Cities” and took a look at what is necessary for Los Angeles to remain a great American city, and in the final session of the semester looked at the role women leaders play in this success.
The remarkable women leaders participating, included Nury Martinez, the only woman on the Los Angeles City Council, Mary Leslie, the Director of the Los Angeles Business Council, Deidre Lind, President of the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, Paula Daniels, Commissioner of the California Water Commission, and was moderated by the Global Director of the USC Schwarzenegger Institute, Bonnie Reiss. They shared their perspective on the challenges and opportunities women have, as well as what unique value they bring to leadership and organizations.
The data on the value of women leaders is so overwhelming that Dean Jack Knott, and Bonnie Reiss shared this information in an OpEd that ran in the Sacramento Bee.
