Christian Grose Launches New Research in Partnership with Arizona Secretary of State

Academic Director Christian Grose, the Bipartisan Policy Center, and the office of Arizona’s Secretary of State are collaborating on a research project to evaluate the new Election Fellows Program in Arizona. This novel program launched in 2024 by the Arizona Secretary of State recruits college students and young people to become Election Fellows and serve in local counties in Arizona. Election Fellows assist and learn directly from election administrators, conduct outreach with voters, and take part in learning about nonpartisan election administration. The study will assess the effectiveness of the Arizona Election Fellows program in order to inform its growth in other states; and to measure if it can help transform the election administration workforce. In 2020, Governor Schwarzenegger’s Nonpartisan Democracy Grants program supported nonpartisan election administration in Maricopa County, Arizona. This research partnership in 2024 continues the Institute’s work on election administration in Arizona.
